All In The Details: Telling Your Story
The difference between writing a captivating memoir and simply telling a story to friends and family is all in the details. It is important to keep in mind that your audience is approaching your life for the first time; they were not there to see you grow up. When picking events, focus in on key, descriptive details to enrich the tale. What time of day was it? What were you wearing? What can you remember smelling from your kitchen?
It is the little details that will make your stories vivid for your audience and keep them wanting more. Remember to stay focused and only choose details that enhance, not clutter. More info: writing a memoir
